Terms of Service

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of the Schematic mobile application ("App") and related services provided by us ("we", "our", "us"). By downloading, accessing or using Schematic, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the App.

1. What Schematic Is

Schematic is a microlearning app that explains how everyday systems work — household electricity, home appliances, plumbing, and general engineering concepts. It provides short audio lessons with timed visuals and synchronised captions, a three-question comprehension check after each lesson, and a day-by-day plan. Lessons stream over the internet and are cached on your device for offline replay.

2. Educational Use and Safety

Schematic is educational, not instructional. Its purpose is to help you understand how systems work and talk about them with confidence. It is not a repair manual, and it is not a substitute for a qualified electrician, plumber, gas engineer, or appliance technician.

Do not rely on the App to carry out work on live electrical circuits, gas appliances, pressurised water systems, or anything else that could injure you or damage property. Work of that kind is regulated in most countries and must be done by a licensed professional.

We provide the content in good faith and take care to make it accurate, but we make no warranty that it is complete, current, or applicable to your specific equipment, building, or local regulations. Any action you take based on the content is at your own risk.

3. Eligibility

You must be at least 13 years old to use Schematic. If you are under 18, you confirm that a parent or legal guardian has reviewed and agreed to these Terms on your behalf.

4. Accounts Are Optional

Schematic works without an account. You can complete onboarding, subscribe, and use every feature without giving us a name or an email address. Your subscription is tied to your device and your Apple ID, not to an account with us.

You may optionally create an account using Apple Sign-In, Google Sign-In, or an email address, so that we can contact you. If you do, you are responsible for keeping your sign-in credentials confidential and for activity under your account. You can delete your account at any time from Account Settings in the App; deleting it does not cancel or affect your subscription.

5. Subscriptions and Payment

Schematic is sold as an auto-renewing subscription that unlocks the full lesson library and your plan. The exact price and duration of each option is shown in the App before you buy, and prices vary by region and may change over time.

Free trial: where a free trial is offered, it is stated on the purchase screen. If you do not cancel at least 24 hours before the trial ends, it converts automatically into a paid subscription and your Apple ID is charged.
Auto-renewal: subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each period unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the renewal date. Your Apple ID is charged within 24 hours before the current period ends.
Billing: payment is taken by Apple and charged to your Apple ID on confirmation of purchase. We never handle your payment details.
Managing and cancelling: manage or cancel your subscription in your Apple ID account settings, under Subscriptions. We cannot cancel it for you. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period, and you keep access until then.
Refunds: purchases are handled by Apple, so refunds are at Apple's discretion under the App Store Terms of Sale. We do not provide refunds for unused portions of a period.
Introductory and promotional offers: we may offer discounted pricing to new or returning subscribers. Eligibility is determined by Apple. An offer applies to the stated period only; after it ends the subscription renews at the standard price, which is disclosed before you buy.
Price changes: if we raise the price of your subscription, Apple will notify you and ask for your consent before the change takes effect.

6. Intellectual Property

All content in Schematic — audio, narration, transcripts, illustrations, text, graphics, logos, and the software itself — is owned by us or our licensors and protected by copyright and other intellectual property laws. We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to access the content through the App for your own private, non-commercial use. You may not reproduce, redistribute, publicly perform, or create derivative works from it without our prior written permission.

We may add, change, or remove lessons and features at any time without prior notice. We do not guarantee that any particular lesson will remain available indefinitely. The App requires an internet connection to fetch new lessons; cached lessons remain playable offline for as long as they stay on your device.

9. Disclaimer of Warranties

The App is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the App will be uninterrupted, timely, secure, or error-free. You use it at your own risk. Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion of implied warranties, so parts of this section may not apply to you.

10. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for any loss of profits, data, or goodwill, arising from or relating to your use of the App — even if we have been advised of the possibility. To the extent our liability cannot be excluded, it is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the event giving rise to the claim. Nothing in these Terms excludes liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be excluded.

11. Termination

We may suspend or end your access to the App if you breach these Terms, or if we discontinue the service. Where it is reasonable to do so, we will give you notice. On termination your licence to use the App ends immediately. You may stop using the App at any time by deleting it, and delete your account, if you created one, from Account Settings.

12. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. We will announce material changes in the App or by other reasonable means, and the date at the top of this page will change. Continuing to use the App after an update means you accept the revised Terms.

13. Third-Party Terms

The App is distributed through the Apple App Store and your use is also subject to Apple's terms. Apple is not a party to these Terms, is not responsible for the App or its content, and has no obligation to provide support for it. Apple is, however, a third-party beneficiary of these Terms and may enforce them against you.

14. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws applicable at our place of establishment, without regard to conflict-of-law principles. Nothing here deprives you of the protection of mandatory consumer-protection law in your country of residence.
